Survival Tips

Rain is almost a given, so boots and rain gear are a must. If you plan to take your vehicle in and out of the park, four wheel drive is not a bad idea.
Each competition may feature well over one hundred competitors. It's a good idea to get in line early if you want to avoid waiting several hours in line.
If you are coming to the convention with a group, and you want camp together, make sure you arrive at the same time. It is nearly impossible to save camp sites for other people.
Get plenty of sleep before you arrive. If you're like most people, you'll be up all night, every night!
Drug and alcohol laws are strictly enforced by local and state police, as well as, agents from the ATF. They patrol throughout the park on a frequent basis. No public display of alcohol is allowed.
The August days in Galax can be scorchers, but the nights in the park can get a little cool. Bring summer clothes for the day, and a jacket to wear at night.
